You ask: What can God use me for?
My answer: A lot!
All gifting is from God and have been intentionally given to us by God to further His kingdom here on earth.
James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Many people disdain their God-given gifting sometimes because it does not appear to be as obviously grand as another person’s.
However, every gifting is important!
Let’s take a look at three of such unusual gifts from bible accounts:
The woman at the well:
“The gift of garb”
John 4:28-30 – So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and *said to the men, “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.
After Jesus ministered to her, she left her water pot and became a witness. Many of us may look at other’s perception of us and it stifles our gift but this woman was not such. She used her gift judiciously even in controversial circumstances. She spread the word thereby bringing many into the kingdom.
Jael:
“The gift of Softness”
Judges 4:18-21
And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; do not fear.” And when he had turned aside with her into the tent, she covered him with a blanket. Then he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a jug of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him. And he said to her, “Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and inquires of you, and says, ‘Is there any man here?’ you shall say, ‘No.’ ”
Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
Her gift of softness through which her power of persuasion was most effective helped the children of Israel defeat their enemy, Sisera.
She achieved much and was exalted by this unusual gifting.
Esther:
“The gift of Beauty and tact”
Esther 2:17-18 – The king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found favor and kindness with him more than all the virgins, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. Then the king gave a great banquet, Esther’s banquet, for all his princes and his servants; he also made a holiday for the provinces and gave gifts according to the king’s bounty.
Queen Esther had favor with the king because of her beauty combined with her tact; God used her to bring deliverance to the Jewish nation in Shushan.
You too have a gift. Your youth (vigor) or your gray hairs (wisdom) may be your gift. Don’t despise your gift.
Matthew 5:16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Use it to the glory of God!
