Wherever Jesus went, a crowd always followed him.
The crowd were the witness of the marvelous things Jesus did but many, I dare say were not partakers.
- The crowd were present when four men brought in their paralytic friend. (Read Luke 5)
- The crowd were there when Lazarus was raised from the dead. (Read John 11)
- The crowd were there when the centurion’s servant was made whole. (Read Luke 7)
- The crowd were there when the woman with the issue of blood received her miracle of healing. (Read Luke 8)
- The crowd was there when the son of the widow of Nain was brought back to life instead of being buried. (Read Luke 7)
The crowd were always there…
Since many were not partakers of the ministry of Jesus, a guess would be that among them were onlookers, doubters, the itchy-eared, gossips, haters and mockers of Jesus, reporters and cheerleaders…
People who just watched while other people touched Jesus, received from Him and worshipped him…yet there were people in the crowd who probably needed the same touch or some other kind of intervention however they never came out of the crowd for Jesus to touch them.
Have you ever been in a crowd…it can be chaotic!
The dictionary definition of a crowd is: A large number of people gathered together, typically in a disorganized or unruly way.
Why disorganized and unruly?
Perhaps because most people in a crowd came to satisfy a personal appetite.
Many times, they came to see what Jesus could or would do, or say, to other people…they came to satisfy their flesh…to watch a show…yet Jesus was not a magician…he walked by the spirit and they walked by the flesh…only those who were worshippers or willing to be could gain access to Him and receive from him.
A man named Zaccheaus, in Luke 19 was one of such who desired to be a worshipper and he went out of the crowd and climbed a tree just to get Jesus’s attention!
The others were mere spectators…
God is looking for worshippers, not crowds…He wants you and I to come out of the crowd and seek Him one on one…2 Cor 6:17a – “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord…”
Do you desire to be a worshipper?
John 4:23 – “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks”
God is calling you. Come out from the crowd, Seek God and you will find Him!
